How to compare rubber granule quotations
Compare rubber granule quotations on the same material, net quantity and delivery basis before choosing the lowest price per tonne. An FOB goods offer is not a delivered-cost quotation. Missing freight, insurance or destination charges must remain marked as unknown until the responsible provider confirms them.

- Offer B
Grade and limits: ___ Net tonnes: ___ Delivery rule and named point: ___ Included costs: ___ Missing costs: ___
Same material
Match the intended use, grading and acceptance requirements. A nominal size label is not the whole specification.
Same endpoint
Compare costs to one agreed destination. Record the actual delivery and risk-transfer point separately.
No assumed extras
Packing, payload, freight and insurance need confirmation. A blank cost is unknown, not zero.

Match the material before comparing the price
The cheaper offer must still describe material your process can accept.
Put both offers against the same specification. For black recycled rubber granules, record the requested size distribution, intended application and any limits your technical team requires. Ask what evidence is available for those requirements rather than assuming every supplier provides the same tests.
A size such as 1–3 mm does not, by itself, give the percentages allowed outside that range. Use the sieve-analysis guide to describe the grading you need. Keep unresolved material differences separate from the price comparison.
Use net rubber quantity, not a container assumption
Separate the weight of the material from bags, pallets and the container.
Ask each seller to state the quoted net material quantity and proposed packing. Confirm bag count, net fill weight and whether pallets are included. Request the gross-weight information needed by your forwarder separately.
Do not assign the same payload to two offers just because both mention a container. If loading quantities are provisional, label them as estimates and compare more than one possible quantity until the actual packing plan is agreed.
Read the delivery rule and named point together
FOB and FCA do not describe the same handover.
Under Incoterms® 2020 FOB, delivery and risk transfer occur when the goods are on board the vessel at the named shipment port. FCA uses an agreed carrier-handover location, which can be different. ICC Academy explains the distinction.
For container-terminal handover, ICC’s checklist points buyers toward FCA. This does not change an existing offer: Bedrock currently quotes FOB. Confirm the named shipment point, rule version and written responsibilities with the parties. This guide is a comparison aid, not contract advice.
Build a delivered-cost estimate without double-counting
Add only the costs that are not already included in the offer.
Choose one endpoint, such as your receiving warehouse. Ask your forwarder and customs adviser which transport, terminal, clearance, duty or tax, inland-delivery and unloading amounts apply to that route. Obtain any required cargo-insurance quotation separately and check its coverage. Do not add a universal percentage.
For each charge, record who pays it, whether it is included and whether the amount is confirmed or estimated. ICC warns that terminal and handling charges can cause disputes even when a delivery rule is named. Clarify them explicitly using its cost-allocation checklist.
Keep one comparison sheet for both offers
A useful total shows its assumptions, not just its answer.
Copy the two offer columns above, then add these fields to each:
- Currency, quotation date and expiry
- Goods total and confirmed net tonnes
- Extra charges to the same destination
- Payment conditions and proposed dispatch timing
- Open questions, responsible person and confirmation date
For a provisional cost per net tonne, divide the goods total plus applicable, non-duplicated extra costs by the quoted net tonnes. Use the same currency basis. If any important amount is missing, mark the result incomplete. Recheck the offer and freight validity before committing. If the initial enquiry needs work, use the Buying guide.
Request a comparable granule offer
Share your application, grading requirements, quantity and destination. We can discuss the available granules and confirm the basis of a proposed offer.
Send your granule requirementsCommon questions
Is the lowest price per tonne always the cheapest option?
No. Compare a material your process can accept, the net quantity supplied and all applicable costs to the same endpoint. Leave unconfirmed costs visible.
Does an FOB quotation include delivery to my warehouse?
No. Do not read an FOB goods price as a warehouse-delivered total. Ask your forwarder to identify the remaining route-specific costs and responsibilities.
What if I have not prepared a specification yet?
Start with the granules product information and Buying guide. Define the material and enquiry inputs before treating two quotations as comparable.
